Psalm 124 | You’re Not Alone

🏰 When the ancient Israelites walked up to the temple in Jerusalem, they’d sing Psalm 124 together.

🎵 Think of it like a massive group song where one person starts: “If the Lord hadn’t been on our side…” and everyone else joins in, remembering how God saved them from their enemies.

🌊 The psalm uses a lot of flood imagery — like waves crashing over people and threatening to drown them.

🚶‍♂️ This connects to other famous Bible stories, like Noah’s flood and how God parted the Red Sea so the Israelites could escape from Egypt.

✝️ But it also points forward to Jesus’s story, especially his baptism in the Jordan River and how he took on the “flood” of punishment for humanity’s sins on the cross.

💧 For Christians today, this connects to baptism — when water is poured over someone to show they’re part of God’s family and saved through Jesus.

🛡️ It’s like a promise that you’re protected from death and evil, and you’ll have eternal life because your sins are forgiven.

💭 You can think about this psalm in two ways.

1️⃣ First, you can pray it with others when celebrating how God has helped your community through tough times. 🙏
2️⃣ But you can also pray it by yourself when you’re worried about what’s coming next in your life — like before a big test, when dealing with drama at school, or when facing any scary situation.

❤️ The main message? You’re not alone.

✨ The psalm reminds us that God — the same one who created everything — is on our side.

🌟 For Christians, this means Jesus isn’t just the maker of the universe; he’s also someone who cares about you personally and wants to protect you from harm.
