Giving to Higher Things Through Your IRA

If you are 70½ or older, you can make charitable gifts directly from your IRA to Higher Things. This is called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).

Here’s how:

1. Contact your IRA custodian (the company that manages your IRA).

2. Request a Qualified Charitable Distribution be made directly to:

3. Specify the amount you would like to give. (Up to $100,000 per year can be given this way.)

4. Your custodian will send the gift directly to Higher Things.

Important: To qualify for tax benefits, the funds must go directly from your IRA to Higher Things—do not withdraw them first.

Giving to Higher Things Through Your Donor-Advised Fund

You can recommend a grant to Higher Things directly from your donor-advised fund (DAF), such as Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or Vanguard Charitable.

Here’s how:

1. Log in to your DAF account.

2. Search for or enter:

3. Specify the amount of your gift and recommend a grant.

4. Your DAF sponsor will send the funds directly to Higher Things.

Tip: You can also set up recurring grants through your DAF to make ongoing support automatic.
