What It Means to Sing Hosanna

📖 One of the best parts of the Lutheran liturgy is how it takes us on a journey through scripture.

➡️When we sing “Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy,” we’re standing shoulder to shoulder with the blind man and the lepers who called out to Jesus on dusty roads.

Our plea echoes theirs, and Jesus hears us just as He heard them.

➡️When we pray for a clean heart, we’re confessing our sins right along with David.

➡️ In the communion liturgy, when we sing “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” We’re not just repeating ancient phrases. We’re standing with the Palm Sunday crowd, welcoming Jesus who comes to save you.

“Hosanna” literally means “save us now” in Hebrew.

And the beautiful truth? He has saved you. 🙌

He knew exactly what awaited Him in Jerusalem — betrayal, suffering, and death — yet He went anyway. For you.

What happens at the end of Holy Week means everything where it matters most. Jesus entered Jerusalem to save you personally, to carry your sins to the cross, to die and pay for them completely.

As Luther reminds us, “Where there is forgiveness, there is life and salvation.”

So this Palm Sunday, sing boldly with the crowd, knowing that Christ has come for you.🌴

Your “Hosanna” isn’t just a song — it’s a testimony that Jesus has indeed saved you. ✝️
