The Message That Almost Got Jeremiah Killed

📖 Lent 2 Old Testament Reading: Jeremiah 26:8-15

Ever faced a moment when telling the truth made people angry? 😠 That’s exactly what Jeremiah dealt with in the Old Testament.

Jeremiah was basically the OG truth-teller who kept getting canceled for speaking facts. 🚫

In Jeremiah 26, he delivered God’s message to people who definitely didn’t want to hear it when he warned them about the coming destruction of Jerusalem 💥

Their response? “You shall die.” ☠️

Why the extreme reaction? Because Jeremiah predicted their temple would be destroyed and their city abandoned if they didn’t change their ways. ❌

The religious leaders were shaken — this threatened their whole livelihood. But Jeremiah didn’t back down. 💪

He was like, “Look, I’m just the messenger. God sent me to tell you this. Change your ways and God will cancel the disaster heading your way. Do whatever you want with me, but know that if you kill me, you will bring the guilt of innocent blood on yourselves.” 🩸

This foreshadows Christ’s crucifixion, where His blood became both salvation for believers and judgment for those who rejected Him. ✝️

There will be situations when you have to say, “This isn’t right.” 🙅‍♂️

The good news? 🎉

Even when standing firm brings earthly consequences, you’re remembered by God because you are his child. ❤️

Through baptism, you’re connected to Christ himself, and the Holy Spirit has given you faith in that promise. 🌊

There may be consequences in this life for speaking the truth, but you can have peace knowing that you belong to a kingdom that endures forever, and you will be raised on the last day. 🌅
