Good Friday Epistle Reading: Hebrews 4:14-16, 5:7-9
You think no one understands you. Parents, teachers, grandparents — none of them seem to get what you’re going through. It feels like you’re completely alone with your thoughts and feelings.
But Hebrews tells us something incredible: “We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.”
Think about that.
Jesus — the Son of God — understands exactly what you’re going through.
When temptation hits and you fail (again), Jesus doesn’t look down on you. He doesn’t roll His eyes or turn away.
Instead, He says, “I get it. Temptation is tough.”
The difference? He never gave in.
And here’s the amazing part — His perfect record covers all your failures.
All those times you promised yourself “just one more time, then never again”… only to fall right back into the same sin?
Jesus took all of that to the cross.
➡️He points you to His blood that was spilled for you.
➡️He reminds you of your baptism that has washed you clean.
➡️He offers His body and blood from the altar as proof of His forgiveness.
Your Lord fully understands you. He knows your heart, your mind, and even those deepest, darkest sins you’d never tell anyone else.
And when those sins burden you so much you feel like you might burst, Jesus gives you a pastor who can hear your confession and say, “I forgive you in the name of Jesus.”
So draw near with confidence to the throne of grace. Jesus gets you, and His grace is enough.
