From Dry Bones to New Life

Easter 2 Old Testament Reading: Ezekiel 37:1-14

In Ezekiel 37, God shows the prophet a valley full of dry, lifeless bones.

But here’s the incredible thing: God doesn’t leave those bones dead.

God doesn’t tell the bones to try harder or make better choices.

Instead, He speaks life into them. His Word — not a list of rules, but Jesus Himself — brings resurrection.

When you feel like those dry bones — anxious, doubting, still struggling with sin—remember that God speaks directly to you today.

The same God who opened graves and raised the dead brings you into His promised land, too.

You’re baptized. You’re forgiven. You’re washed in water and Spirit.

Even when everything in your life feels dead and hopeless,

God’s promise remains: “Live.”

His Word accomplishes exactly what it says.

When God declares you alive, you can’t stay dead!

If you die, God will make you alive again. The resurrection is yours.

This is why the Valley of Dry Bones is actually a gift.

It reminds us not to trust what our eyes see, but what our Lord speaks to us.

And He keeps telling you the same thing: “Your sins are forgiven. Live.”
