📖 Lent 4 Old Testament Reading: Isaiah 49:8-13
In Isaiah 49, the prophet calls us to “Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth. Break forth, O mountains, into singing, for the Lord has comforted his people and will have compassion on his afflicted.” ✨
What does this mean for us?
Like Israel, we dwell in brokenness — often of our own making. We disobey, we falter. 💔
Yet in our affliction, God hears us. He restores us.
🧭Do you feel lost? God gathers you from the far corners.
🍞Are you hungry? He feeds you with His body and blood.
💧Are you thirsty? He gives living water.
😥Do you feel alone? He makes you His own in baptism.
Isaiah points us to Christ, our Good Shepherd, who leads us beside living waters.
This promise — first given to Adam and Eve, renewed with Abraham, and ultimately fulfilled in Jesus — is also yours.
We journey through Lent each year, but in truth, life itself is a Lenten journey. 🛣️
The path isn’t always clear, and sometimes the darkness feels overwhelming. But take heart! God guards and guides us.
He comforts us in our affliction today and promises ultimate restoration. 🌱
So we walk together in this broken world, not defined by our failings, but by His grace. 🙏
We are comforted knowing that in Christ, our Good Shepherd watches over us with unfailing compassion.
Remember: your struggles are seen, your pain is acknowledged, and God’s mercy is deeper than any darkness you face. 🙌
