What’s a lectionary? First we have to back up and see that the Church has her own calendar of seasons and holidays (holy-days), etc. Each season has a set of texts that the Church uses at those times. When the year is done, it starts all over again. This way, you know what to expect each week, and you get to receive consistent diet of God’s Word from year to year.
