Can Soda Replace Water in Baptism?

Well, let’s first start with what exactly IS baptism?
Baptism is not just plain water.
It is the water included in God’s command and combined with God’s word that…
Works the forgiveness of sins
Rescues from death and the devil
Gives eternal salvation to all who believe this as the words and promises of God declare

In its most basic, simple form, baptism is nothing more than water and the Word of God.

So, could we use something different than water?
Sure, you could wonder if something else would work, but why?
Why would we change what God has given us?
He has given us water, something so simple and common, for this specific purpose, baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
In these things, in these means, with these words and that water, we have absolute certainty.
God works.
Every time…
His promise is there
Attached to those gifts
Attached to that water
In that water
Poured out upon that person
In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
To work the forgiveness of sins
To rescue from death and the devil
To give eternal salvation to all who believe as the words and promises of God declare.
Water, paired with God’s word, carries the promise of forgiveness, rescue, and eternal life.
It’s simple, it’s certain, and it’s sacred.
So why complicate it?
When we know that we have salvation, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
