Truth in a Post-Truth World

September 25, 2021
Zion Lutheran Church - Tomball, Tx

We no longer live in a post-modern society in which everyone has their own truth. Truth is no longer a subjective reality. We live in a post-truth world. What does this mean?
Let Dr. Adam Francisco of Concordia University Chicago tell you what it means to declare, define, and defend the absolute truth of the Gospel in a post-truth world so that we may give a reason for the hope that is within us.

The Christian Life

november 5-6, 2021
village Lutheran Church - ladue, mo

Jesus calls us to live in the world, but not to be conformed to the world around us. This is a difficult challenge! There are so many different messages given to us about what kind of life we should live today—it can blow our minds! There are unending opinions about what the Christian life should look like in different situations:  from a world that is changing its mind about gender, marriage, and family, to social media’s constant presence, to the role of your Christian faith in a life busy with sports, friends, schools, clubs, and family activities,. This retreat will focus on what the Bible says about the Christian life and how you as a junior high student live as a Christian today. God has called you to be a Christian and to love the Lord your God and your neighbor. At this retreat, you will get to think about how to live as a Christian in a 21st century world.
Pastor Peter Ill, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, Illinois, will be our presenter for this retreat. He and his wife, Carrie, love to travel and enjoy plays and concerts. He is a Detroit Tigers fan and a recovering tuba player.

Life Ain't Easy

november 12-13, 2021
St. John's LUTHERAN CHURCH - Westfield, MA

It's tough to be a Christian in our world, and it seems to be getting tougher all the time. But we're not the first Christians to live in challenging times. The book of 1 Peter is a letter of hope written to Christians familiar with suffering. Through whatever challenges you face, learn to hold on to the hope that we have in Christ.
Pastor Peter Gregory, one of our New England district pastors, will be the speaker for this retreat. Pastor Gregory has been serving the saints of  Our Savior in Westminster, MA since March 2015. He is married to Kristen and they have six children at home and one home with Jesus.

Higher Things® Retreats

Missing HT Conferences throughout the year? Attend one of our many regional retreats! Hosted at a church or a camp, these one or two day events will fill you with all of the great things you get during a summer conference, but in a more intimate way. Picture the sanctuary of your local church filled with teenagers, eager for the organ to begin the opening lines of the liturgy or their favorite hymns, listening intently as they learn how their Lutheran faith applies to their lives and relationships, and laughing as they horse around playing games and getting to know other youth from the area. When you attend a Higher Things Retreat, you challenge youth to Dare to be Lutheran, inspiring them to deeper faith and love for their neighbors.

Find a Retreat near you to be refilled with the same reverent worship, robust teaching, and playful fun that Higher Things delivers at summer conferences, but in a smaller way. See you there!
