HIGHER THINGS EVENT UPDATE- COVID-19

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

The global outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) is on the minds of individuals and organizations everywhere. Not surprisingly, we at Higher Things have received some questions regarding the impact it will have on our retreats and conferences. The purpose of this update is to inform you of our organization’s immediate plans in light of this situation.

There are a couple of scheduled retreats remaining before our summer conference season. Here is the status of those retreats:

  • “Fully Sinner/Fully Saint” Camp Okoboji, Iowa on March 20-21, 2020: rescheduled for spring 2021 per CDC recommendations.

  • “What is Church?” Wahpeton, North Dakota on March 27-28, 2020: rescheduled for spring 2021 per CDC recommendations.

Regarding the 2020 Watermarked conferences, we are in regular contact with the four conference sites; each site is currently managing the situation with their students by utilizing online learning until mid-April or through the end of the school year. None of the sites have indicated that they will be closed for summer activities. Therefore, Higher Things’ Watermarked 2020 registration remains open and will operate as though the end result will be a normal conference season. Higher Things will continue to monitor the evolving coronavirus situation and keep you informed as matters progress.

We thank you for your continued support of Higher Things and ask you to pray for our employees and volunteers as we will assuredly continue to pray for you, your children, your families, your congregations, and your communities.

Sincerely,

Erica Jacoby

The Office of the Holy Ministry – Chatfield, Minnesota – February 21-22, 2020

Truth or Myth? Pastors only work one day a week (which makes it a great gig if you can get it!). 99.7% of the members of the LCMS are not pastors (which means that only three-tenths of one percent are).  But Michael Scott is in The Office.  The Office of the Holy Ministry, therefore, is […]

What is Church? – Minot, North Dakota – March 27-28, 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this retreat has been cancelled. Look for information for a 2021 rescheduling coming soon.      Is Church just a building? Is it where people come to pray? Does a church have to have stained glass windows and a steeple?  Is church better if there are more people and loud […]

Fully Sinner/Fully Saint – Camp Okoboji, Milford, Iowa – March 20-21, 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this retreat has been cancelled. Look for information for a 2021 rescheduling coming soon.      Sometimes, it feels like there’s a civil war going on inside us. The good we want to do we don’t do. The stuff we’re commanded by God not to do, we do (and even […]

Confirmation Camp 2020

Higher Things and Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca are pleased to announce the fourth annual Higher Things Confirmation Camp! This year’s camp will be held August 4-7, 2020. It’s time to give those catechisms some summer attention! With the busyness of summer, many confirmands go months without picking up their catechism, let alone even thinking on the content they […]
