“What is Truth?”  That is the famous question that the Roman Prefect, Pontius Pilate, asked Jesus some 2,000 years ago.  And it is the same question asked by millions today.

So what is truth?  How do we know truth?  Where do find truth?  And once we receive the truth, how do we defend it?  These questions and more will be covered in the upcoming Higher Things Retreat in Pierre, South Dakota.  The sessions are designed to not only help students understand Truth from a Christian perspective but also defend Truth from competing ideologies, in this complex world that we find ourselves in.

Rev. Dr. Matthew Richard is Pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minot, ND, author of the book “Will the Real Jesus Please Stand Up:12 False Christs”, and is active on various Lutheran Blogs and Journals.  You can also hear him on radio and internet podcasts, speaking on a variety of topics.

Picture the sanctuary filled with teenagers, eager for the organ to begin the opening lines of the liturgy or their favorite hymns, listening intently as they learn how their Lutheran faith applies to their lives and relationships, and laughing as they horse around playing games and getting to know other youth from the area. This Retreat will give youth and adults a glimpse of what happens at a Higher Things Youth Conference and what a typical conference day looks like.
