Digging Deeper: Military Service and the Two Kingdoms
by Katie Hill on October 2nd, 2020
The Kingdom of the Left flows from the Kingdom of the Right. Here God gives humanity the right to rule. But it comes with responsibilities. The Left can never subordinate the Right. The Left is responsible to allow the Gospel to spread unfettered. The Left is given authority to punish crimes, wage war, and protect its citizens, which is where military service as a vocation comes into play.
Foundations: Two Kinds of Eating
by Katie Hill on September 28th, 2020
We confess that there are two kinds of eating. In John 6, when Jesus speaks of the Bread of Life, He's talking about the first kind and anticipating the second; on the night in which He is betrayed when He institutes His Supper, He gives us to do the second kind in order to strengthen the first.

Helpful Things: Get Your Youth Talking!
by Katie Hill on July 10th, 2020
Get your youth talking! Their mental health may depend on it. Forgive the obviousness of this statement but there are a lot of scary events going on in the world right now! We are dealing with a global pandemic, racial tension and rioting, contentious politicking, and a frightening economic forecast. Now try to imagine going through all of the major physical and mental development that occurs during the teenage years at the same time. Sounds pretty stressful, doesn't it?
Under the Cross: The Sophia Worthy of Reception
by Katie Hill on July 9th, 2020
My daughter's Sophia's name means "wisdom." She's more precious to us than rubies! (Proverbs 8:11) She has taught me more about being a pastor than any theology book or seminary class. Her whole life flows from God. She literally can't make it on her own. She lives and grows completely and totally from the God who gives gifts to her.
Foundations: Preface and Proper Preface
by Katie Hill on June 10th, 2020
There is no lifting of our hearts, or anything else, up to heaven; heaven comes down to us. If our hearts are oriented to the Lord above, it’s because He has turned our hearts toward Him in faith.
Foundations: Dying and Rising from Above
by Sandra Madden on May 27th, 2020
When you are baptized—born “from above”—you are given the death and resurrection of Jesus as your own. That means the death He died for your sins you have died: at the font! And the life He lives, you now live, having risen to that new life through the waters of Baptism.
