Daily Lectionary: Genesis 1:20-2:3; Mark 1:14-28

"I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from all eternity and also true man, born of the virgin Mary, is my Lord."

(The Small Catechism: Second Article, Part 1)

In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Jesus is your Lord. He's the one who has saved you from your sins, from death, and the power of the devil with His holy precious Blood and His innocent suffering and death. You are His own. You live in His Kingdom. You serve Him. You are righteous. You are innocent. You are blessed.

Jesus is your Lord. That means you are saved. It means you can't go to hell. You must be saved. You must be rescued. You must live forever in Jesus.

Jesus is your Lord. That means God no longer holds any anger against you. God isn't upset with you. He's not going to throw you into hell. Jesus went there for you in your place. Death can't harm Jesus; hell won't hold Him. In Jesus, death and hell can't hold you, either.

Jesus is your Lord. Repent of thinking He's your slavemaster or that confessing Him as your Lord means that you have to serve Him in order to be saved. Give that up for Lent! Repent of that today! Repent of thinking that Jesus is some despot on whose good side you have to get...or else.

Jesus is your Lord. You are forgiven. You have eternal life that no one can take or steal from you. You can't lose your salvation in Jesus. You'd have to leave Jesus to lose your salvation! You won't do that because He's your Lord. He will keep you steadfast in the one true faith unto life everlasting in His Body and Blood.

Jesus is your Lord. Repent of your sins. Turn from them. Run from them. They aren't who you are. They put you outside of Christ. You don't have to do them anymore. You aren't a slave to them. You are free.

Jesus is your Lord. Be forgiven, and forgive those who have sinned against you. Be loved, and love those around you. Be mercied by God, and show mercy to those who don't deserve it. Put others first, because God in Christ has put you first. Die to yourself and put the needs of others before yours because Christ has died for you.

Jesus is your Lord. You are completely and totally His. You are holy. You are pure. Heaven is yours as surely as it is Jesus'. You will live forever in Him. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
