Reflections for the season of Easter 2010.
Let God arise, Let His enemies be scattered; Let those also who hate Him flee before Him. (Psalm 68:1 from the Introit for Pentecost).
Then Moses lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them." (Numbers 20:11-12).
Then the owner of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. Probably they will respect him when they see him.'"But when the vinedressers saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.' (Luke 20:13-14)
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy, Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. What does this mean? I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him; but the Holy Spirit has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith... Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you;but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. (1 Peter 4:12-13)
“Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 36:25-26)
But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. (John 15:26)
The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1 from the Introit for Easter 7)
Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” (Luke 24:46-47)
And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. (Acts 1:9)
From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. What does this mean? ...that I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence and blessedness, just as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity. This is most certainly true.(The Creed, Second Article)
For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5)
So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived. (Numbers 21:9)

"Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, 'Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?'"But he answered and said to him, 'Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. (Luke 13:7-8)
...The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty...What does this mean? that I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence and blessedness, just as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. (James 1:18)
And in that day you will say: "Praise the LORD, call upon His name; Declare His deeds among the peoples, Make mention that His name is exalted. (Isaiah 12:4)
"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. (John 16:13)
Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us." (John 14:8)
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. (1 John 3:1)
For He does not afflict willingly, Nor grieve the children of men. (Lamentations 3:33)
...suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell...What does this mean? [He] who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, purchased and won me from all sins, from death and from the power of the devil; not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and His innocent suffering and death... (The Creed, Second Article)
For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. (1 Peter 2:19)
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. (Isaiah 40:28)
Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.
Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men. (Psalm 66:5 from the Introit for Easter 4).
Then they made the plate of the holy crown of pure gold, and wrote on it an inscription like the engraving of a signet: HOLINESS TO THE LORD. (Exodus 39:30)
This is the inventory of the tabernacle, the tabernacle of the Testimony, which was counted according to the commandment of Moses, for the service of the Levites, by the hand of Ithamar, son of Aaron the priest. (Exodus 38:21)

For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. (1 Peter 2:25).
For thus says the Lord GOD: "Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. (Ezekiel 34:11)
[Jesus said,] “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. (John 10:11)
Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who hope in His mercy,To deliver their soul from death, And to keep them alive in famine. (Psalm 33:18-19, from the Introit for Easter 3)
Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles. (Luke 6:12-13)
When He saw their faith, He said to him, "Man, your sins are forgiven you."And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?" (Luke 5:20-21).
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. What does this mean? ...He defends me against all danger and guards and protects me from all evil. All this He does only out of fatherly, divine goodness and mercy, without any merit or worthiness in me. For all this it is my duty to thank and praise, serve and obey Him. This is most certainly true. (The Creed, First Article)
Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. (1 John 5:5-6)
Also He said to me, "Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live." ' " (Ezekiel 37:9)
And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book;but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. (John 20:30-31)
As newborn babes, Alleluia! Desire the pure milk of the word, Alleluia! (1 Peter 2:2, from the Introit for Easter 2)
Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and spoke, saying: "I will sing to the LORD, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea! (Exodus 15:1)
And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. (Luke 24:27)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Make of heaven and earth. What does this mean? I believe that God has made me and all creatures, that He has given me my body and soul, eyes, ears and all my members, my reason and all my senses and still takes care of them...1st Article of the Apostles Creed
Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. (1 Corinthians 5:8)
For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth;And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, That in my flesh I shall see God, (Job 19:25-26).
"But go, tell His disciples -- and Peter -- that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.” (Mark 16:7)
